Things to Do in Singapore Feat

There’s quite a good mixture of things to do in Singapore from kids activities, amusement parks, fantastic shopping, excellent food to culture and arts for adults.  Still, there’s not one particular thing that you’d say you go to visit Singapore for.

Gardens by the Bay – Basically a big park with three main gardens.  It’s not really that natural. I went over at night, where SuperTree Grove is all lit up. For sure, it’s nice to see and quite unique, but not something you’re going to be rushing off to tell your friends about and saying they have to go see.  Definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for things to do in Singapore but not worth going to Singapore for.

Sentosa – Stayed here a few years back and wasn’t that impressed. Grobbler was quite young, maybe only 1 or 2.  I don’t remember having much fun here (and I remember other places we visited that same year). It’s basically what I would describe as an artificial resort Island. There’s loads of activities and things to do for kids, none of which I recall going to. Check the website, seems good for kids but again, it’s got this fake kind of feeling to.

Singapore Botanic Gardens – Nice and very highly rated by most travel sites but it’s usually so hot and sticky in Singapore that after spending a few hours here you’ll need to retreat to somewhere with air-conditioning.  Here’s a good link that explains more about Singapore’s weather.

Shopping on Orchard Road – From high end brands to little markets, Orchard Road is the place to go for shopping.  You can easily spend a few days down here and with loads of restaurants and cafes, it’s one of the nicest shopping streets in Asia, especially during Christmas when the lights are on.

National Gallery Singapore – Recently opened located in downtown Singapore. National Gallery Singapore is a visual arts institution which oversees the largest public collection of modern art in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Situated in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments—City Hall and former Supreme Court—that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting venue.

Formula 1 Night Race – Got a lot of mates who go to this every year and apparently a good weekend where Singapore really comes alive. Not my type of thing but I think if you wanted to see an F1, this it’d be the one to go to.  For petrol heads obviously one of the top things to do in Singapore.
