Fiji Airways Hong Kong to Nadi Economy Class

Like Fiji, nothing terribly wrong but rather underwhelming and wouldn't be in a hurry to fly Fiji Airways again.

Flew to Fiji on Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi economy class FJ392.  Booking with Fiji Airways the first time was fine but we had to change the flight which was painful, not as painful as Qantas, but a long and lengthy process.  When we went to check-in the seats we had booked on the original booking were gone, and had to pay to choose any other seat other than at the very back of the plane.

Paid for Grobblers seat all ok, then went to pay for mine and kept on getting endless errors. In the end had to call them, waited about 20 minutes, no too bad, and then spoke to this really rude cow who sounded like she had just had enough of life and was in no mood to help.  Anyway, finally got everything sorted but the Fiji Airways website is a bit of a nightmare. I know Fiji is not the most developed country in the word but I still don’t understand how these airlines can get away with hiring inept website developers and putting out sites that are full of bugs.  Anyway, if you don’t have to change anything, you’ll be fine.

Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi

Got to the Airport and the Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi check-in counter is Aisle F at Hong Kong Airport. They have about 3 counters and staff, but luckily when we showed up two hours before departure, there was nobody waiting.  Showed them my Asia Miles card and despite supposed to be getting priority boarding and a few other worthless perks, none of the staff knew a single thing about their One World Connect status and what that actually entitles people to.  You don’t get any miles as it’s not a code share CX Flight. The priority check-in was pointless as nobody was there and we didn’t have any large check-in bags so always board last when that’s the case. So basically any entitlements were pointless. Still, you’d think the staff would know.

Hard Stale Bread

Boarded on time, full was chocker block being first day of most schools holidays.  While waiting to take off, the plane is hot and stuffy. As soon as you take off they pump up the air-con and it’s freezing cold.  You’ll need a jacket on Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi Economy Class. Seats are alright, we had 8A and 8B, right behind the bulkhead seats. Couple of crying babies in front of us, not too bad though and nothing to do with Fiji Airways.  Amusing watching the panicked parents trying to make sure their babies don’t cry. Not much legroom, if you’re big you’re going to struggle, pretty standard for most airlines’ economy class. Seat in front had a hole in the place where you put shit, no big deal but they could at least try and do some repair job on it.

More Shit Food on Fiji Ariways

Seats have a funny recline, doesn’t stay there unless your weight is on it.  Dinner was the typical chicken with rice or vegetarian. Chicken with rice was as expected, edible but not much more than that.  Bit of a shite bread roll, couple of biscuits and a cup of whatever you want. They don’t give you anything extra unless you ask for it.  You usually get a bigger portion when you fly long haul but this was about the same as you get on a Hong Kong to Bangkok flight. Not horrific, but about average for airline food.

Ripped Seats

Service on Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi Flight FJ392 was ok, took an hour to clear your dinner away but that’s not unusual, not sure why they take so long as on every flight I’ve been on, nobody takes more than 5-10 minutes to polish off their food.  Anyway, overall the flight was okay. You don’t have much choice when flying from Hong Kong to Fiji so this is really your only option unless you’re going to stopover somewhere along the way and that’s not really worth it.

Seats Falling Apart

Fiji Airways Hong Kong To Nadi is by no means the worst flight I’ve been on, I mean pretty average.  Half the plane was full of mainland Chinese but they were very quiet and very well behaved. Oh, on the website when checking there’s also no option to order a kids meal, and the adult one has a bit of spice to it.  You’ll need some snacks and again, you definitely need a jacket.

Shite Food

This is the only direct flight from Hong Kong to Fiji and it’s not a great time.  On a 10 hour flight, by the time they serve dinner and then wake you up again in the morning, you can really only sleep a few hours.  And the worst thing is, you’ll be arriving at 7am in the morning and if you stay at a shit hotel like the Shangri-La, you won’t be able to check-in until 3-4p.m.  On the way back, Fiji to Hong Kong Fiji Airways FJ391 leaves at 8:20a.m so we had to get up at 5a.m staying where we did.

Fiji Airways

On the way back we were just going to the toilet and having a stretch, had a bit of a laugh and got told off by the plane maid (let’s be honest, they’re nothing but maids on a plane) because one of the crew was sleeping.  Really? Their biggest concern is making sure they get enough sleep? Forget about the mainland Chinese sitting two seats in front with hooping cough and a desire to break the world record for most hawks, spits into a bag and loudest noise on a plane, or the little girl in front if us listening to her Chinese shows at full blast with no earphones.  Nope, as long as thew crew get their sleep it’s all good. This pretty much sums up our trip to Fiji.
