Stayed in a Bay Deluxe Room at the The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa which has nice views of the bay and overlooking the golf course. Little bit small for a family (2 adults and 1 Child) than what we usually stay in but perfectly adequate and has a nice little balcony outside. Unfortunately didn’t get to play golf but looks nice. Hotel is typical Ritz Carlton and Japanese service – excellent and absolutely nothing to complain about, as hard as I tried to find something to.
The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is situated on a hill and overlooks the China sea. It’s right across the road from the Busena Marine Park but other than not a whole lot in the area to see. All the major castles, shrines and similar places are at least 60 minutes by car, so if you’re into that type of thing and plan on visiting any of the following: Katsuren Castle, Nakagusuku Castle, Nakijin-jo, Sefa-utaki, Shikina-en Gardens, Sonohyan-utaki Ishimon, Shurijo Castle, Tamaudun, Zakimi-jo Castle, these are all over an hour away.
As you’d expect, the breakfast at the Ritz-Carlton Okinawa was excellent, large selection and not the usual tasteless Japanese eggs that you can get at some hotels in Japan. One of the restaurants you need to be over a certain age to eat at, which we found a bit ridiculous. I’d have like to have played golf but the weather wasn’t that crash hot but there didn’t appear to be many people playing and if you played early morning, you’d have the course to yourself.
It’s got a nice swimming pool which we never used, and nice outdoor areas for having coffee, afternoon tea and just hanging out. The property is lovely and there’s not really much else to say here – if you’re looking for good hotel in Okinawa, the The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is it, just make sure you hire a car to get around otherwise it’s not that convenient to anything.
