Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel

Bit of a disappointing stay here and wouldn't stay here again

The Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel located is right at Tennoji station, the shopping malls in this area are ok, but nothing great for my taste. Tennoji park is across the street, that was disappointing and one of the main reasons I chose to stay here. Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate from booking.com and that might have been a blessing in disguise as the eggs Benedict I ordered were very ordinary and probably one of the worst I’ve had in a long time. The also got confused when seating us as they said the room number we were staying in was occupied by Japanese, showing them the room card with number on it didn’t seem to help. My 4 year old insisted on having room service one night and that was a mistake, a tiny, soft pizza didn’t hit the spot.  So it’s not looking too good for Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel so far!

The room service menu is very limited, we’re not really concerned about that but if you like to sloth out and order in a lot, you’ll need to consider this before staying at the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel. Took multiple times to get through to someone when trying to order and when I finally did they said room service was busy and had to call me back, again not really a big deal but it’s small issues like this that kind of put me off this hotel. There’s plenty of food options very near (same building) the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel so it’s not really an issue. Rooms are a decent size, shower is good, bed is ok, toilet located outside the bathroom next to the door, bit strange but not really an issue for us, although I like to sit on the throne in privacy so if this too is important to you, then you might want to stay elsewhere.

One complaint of the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel is the wardrobe creaked, no idea how that happened but it was very annoying at 6am in the morning. Ordered a cream bun from the bakery only to get back to the room and open up some kind of cream pudding. Again, not a huge deal but all these small things kind of put me off staying here again and I don’t think I’d come back here. The Intercontinental Hotel Osaka, where we stayed at last time in Osaka a few months ago, was much better, granted that was a lot more expensive. Staff at the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel are friendly enough but that’s not enough to get us back again. Lastly, one day when going attempted to go down to breakfast, lifts didn’t work, called the reception, they gave some explanation but I couldn’t understand them, they said no idea when they will be working again and can’t give us a time so was basically stuck in the room for 20 minutes, luckily we didn’t need to catch a flight. Bit of a debacle.

So all these combined didn’t make for a great stay. To be fair, I’m totally anal when it comes to hotels and if there is something to complain about, I will find it!  If you’re a bit more laid back and things don’t bother you easily, then the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel is probably going to be fine for you, but the location wasn’t that great for what we wanted to do.
