Not much comes up in English when you search for Leica repair Hong Kong or any kind of film camera repair in Hong Kong so it’s a bit difficult finding someone to fix your Leica in Hong Kong. Fear not though, if you need Leica repair Hong Kong there’s an excellent guy who is trustworthy, inexpensive and provides excellent service.
For Leica repair Hong Kong or most film camera repairs in Hong Kong, get in contact with Lo Kwok Wah, or “Nicky” Lo. On a recent trip to Rome I was carrying around my Fuji X-Pro 2 and Leica MP and ended up dropping the Leica MP, lens first, on the concrete from a few feet. Worked fine for a few hours but then all of a sudden the rangefinder window alignment stopped working. Most of you will know this isn’t actually a big problem, especially if you zone or hyperfocal distance zone focus most of the time as I do. The only times I usually rely on the little alignment patch to align the images up is when I’m wide open and close to my subject.
Anyway, took it to a beautiful film camera shop in Rome and they told me I would most likely need to send it to Wetzlar Germany and also gave me a contact of another Leica repair guy in Rome, but he was quite far away so I just made do for the rest of the trip. Got back to Hong Kong and immediately did a few searched for Leica Repair Hong Kong and then remembered I was given a contact for Leica Repair Hong Kong by M&K Camera who I bought the camera from. Here’s his contact details here:
Sent him a few emails, got the helper to drop it off around 3p.m, and by 7p.m the camera was ready. This Leica Repair Hong Kong guy gives excellent service, extremely fast turnaround times and the price was very reasonable – I was expecting it to be at least a few thousand Hong Kong, but it was less than $1000. This Leica repair Hong Kong usually opens from 2-8p.m, but give him a call or send him an email to double check, especially during weekends and holidays.
