The Kamala Andara Resort and Villas Phuket is one of the best suites we’ve stayed in anywhere in Asia, granted, it was a 2 bedroom suite and was rather pricey, but like pretty much everything in travel and life, you get what you pay for. It was well worth the extra money and when you have a suite like that, there’s not much need to leave. The beach at Kamala Andara Resort and Villas Phuket is a bit far from the hotel, not really walkable with a toddler but they have a free shuttle down. The beach is nothing special, so you’ll probably think twice about the hassle of getting a shuttle down to it and if you’re paying that much for a Villa, you might as well stay in it and use it.
There’s a nice pool in the Villa, not that big, but big enough to have a bit of a swim and the kids will love it. Just a heads up, if your family are shorties like we are, the pool is a bit deep. I’m 1.65, and I could tip toe and be ok, but at one stage my mother-in-law, who can’t swim, managed to somehow slip off the step, an attempted rescue was made by my wife, who also can’t swim, which was quite Benny Hill like. You’d be hard pressed to drown in it, but just be aware if you have family members are 5 foot F all, and can’t swim!
As is the case with most 5-Star Resorts and Hotels in Thailand, the service is exceptional and nothing to complain about there. I still think Thailand has the best service of anywhere in the world when it comes to the travel industry and that’s just one reason why tourism is such a big market there. Anyway, along with the service, the food, facilities and generally everything about the hotel is top notch. As mentioned the only downside is the location and not being beach front.
It’s a short drive to the brilliant Red Mountain Golf Club, and other golf clubs are not that far away. In short, if you’re thinking about staying at Kamala Andara Resort and Villas Phuket, and don’t care too much about having to walk 10-15 minutes to the beach, or get a shuttle to it, then give it a try, the Villas are awesome, the hotel grounds are lovely and it’s away from the crowds.
