Things do in Fiji with kids - lots

Going to Fiji with kids and looking for things to do?  I’ve absolutely shitted on the Shangri-La throughout this guide, but to be fair, if you have kids and are going to Fiji with kids and/or with other families, and don’t mind crowds, don’t want to leave the resort, then this is probably the place for you.  You could actually stay the entire time within the resort and not leave not be bored. It’s not my scene there but if you’e on holiday with friends and family, you’re probably going to enjoy it here.

Things to do in Fiji With Kids - Lizard Hunting

Let’s start with Grobblers favourites.  First of all, he’s an absolute lizard king so when we finally did get to check-in he was wrapped to see we were on the ground floor with access to hundreds of geckos and lizards running around on the trees.  Total paradise for him and he was still doing it the day we left (so 7 days of lizard hunting and it still entertained him). In addition to this, at night, big toads came out from their holes, hoped around on their lawn so this was like heaven for Grobbler.

He could have spent the entire time only lizard hunting and frog hunting and would have rated the holiday 10/10. One of the other best things to do in Fiji with kids is to visit Kula Wild Adventure Park.  You can hold a snake, some iguana’s and it’s done quite well. There’s a waterslide there and it’s mostly covered so it’s a good half day thing to do in Fiji. You can read more about that here.

At the Shangri-La, there’s also Mini Putt which is short, but ok and a good way to fill in an hour. There’s a kids room with pool tables, table soccer, table tennis, bikes and some other shit, we never actually went inside, but if you’re worried about things to do in Fiji with kids, there’s no need to if you stay the Shangri-La. There’s so many things to do in Fiji with kids here beginning with the kids waterpark. This is a giant inflatable water thing similar to Core in Hong Kong and is very popular at the resort. There’s no charge, but you need a life jacket (whether you can swim or not) and will need to cue up for that, as you do every single thing at the Shangri-La.  You can jump off the top when it’s high tide and overall it’s great fun and your kids can play here for hours.

The swimming pools at the Shangri-La are good but just too busy. Unless you head down early in the morning, you won’t get a a chair and as soon as the day gets started the pools is jam packed. Throughout the day the hotel organises heaps of activities for kids, it’s a bit Heidi-Ho-ish but if it’s your first or second holiday away and you’ve never been to Fiji, you’re probably not going to worry and find it great.

Shangri-La's Fijian Resort & Spa Pool

Other things to do in Fiji with kids at the Shangri-La include Kite making, dancing around the pool, weaving class, crab hunting and racing, kids disco, arts and crafts, introduction to Fijian language, Frugal fashion parade, movies on the sand, coconut boat making, fijian dance lessons, frog hunting and race, face painting, and loads of other stuff. You can stick them into kids club and go do your own thing.  They also have soccer, touch rugby, cricket, tennis and other sports for both adults and kids.

If you stay the Shangri-La, you might get sick of the service or lack of it, and the waits, but there’s plenty of things to in Fiji with kids here, and it’s hard to see them getting bored.  Because it’s packed with families and kids, your kids are also likely to find new friends to hang out with. Most of the families are Aussie and a few Kiwi’s.  Ask us a question on Twitter if you want anything else about what to do in Fiji with kids.
