I’ll get to Kauai photo tours in a minute but there’s some great places to take photos all over hawaii so have a bit of a research first before deciding exactly where to go in Hawaii. Hopefully this will help a bit.
The sunsets in Hawaii are beautiful. You don’t get that haze and smog and pollution you do here in almost every part of Asia and the golden hour in Hawaii is well, golden. If I were to go again, I’d take everything I have as the ambient light here is fantastic. It’s not just about beautiful sunsets though, although you can photograph those until the cows come home. If you head to the volcanic areas there’s some really interesting and different photographs to be had. It requires a bit of research, but it’s worth doing and something that can’t be seen at too many places around the world.
If you’re photographing the volcanoes, use your common sense. Areas the size of a rugby field that have been made of newly cooled lava have been know to, and often fall into the ocean without any warning. If you venture too far into hotspots and off the paths when it clearly indicates you shouldn’t, to take a selfie, you deserve everything that’s coming. This is not like Hong Kong where they’ll out up warning and danger signs when there’s a flight of 2 stairs to be carefully navigated over, this is “make the wrong move and you will die” type of stuff.
If I had the time I’d also head to Kauai, these are the dramatic cliffs and rainforest you see on in a lot of the movies.
