Macau with Kids

There’s not many things to do in Macau with kids but the mainland Chinese love to take them there, I guess while Dad gambles the family savings away.  If you’ve done any Googling for “Macau with kids”, you might have come across some really original and inspiring ideas such as “eat an egg tart” – really?  That’s what you’re going to come up with for things to do in Macau with kids?

You could take older kids, say 4-5 years old and older to the House of Dancing Water.  It’s dark and if your kids are a bit whimpy and cry easily or are scared easily by loud noises, it’s probably better to leave them in the hotel.  For most normal kids, they’d probably enjoy it but the older ones would appreciate it more.  Younger kids would probably get a bit bored.

There’s a kids playzone inside the Venetian Macau called Qube, it’s got pool and air hockey tables, video games, tv’s and all that kind of shit, unless you are really struggling in Macau with kids, I’d give that a miss but some families might enjoy it and maybe if it’s pissing down with rain you could head there.

Macau with Kids Chimelong Ocean Kingdom

Another suggestion on that same site is to go to the beach. Let me say this, there is no beach worth going to in Macau, you’re better off staying in your hotel room and playing cards or doing something with your kids there.

You could take them to the Macau Tower where you can bungy and walk around the edge in a harness. Obviously not for younger ones but teenagers might get a kick out of it.

Really, not much to do in Macau with kids and despite being less than an hour away from Hong Kong, I don’t think I’d ever consider taking my son back to Macau because there’s better things to do in Hong Kong.

Outside Macau, there is Chimelong Ocean Kingdom – I went there when it first opened, actually for the grand opening, don’t remember much but I think it was okay.  We also stayed at the Chimelong Resort which was brand new so lots of teething problems there.
