Hanoi, Vietnam

If you’re thinking about things to do in Hanoi with kids, according to Dad, Hanoi isn’t that shit hot a place to take them, especially younger kids. If you have older kids, like say 8 yrs and over, that might be ok but there’s no wicked kids entertainment places of such in Hanoi, it’s more about the culture, history and that type of thing.  Nevertheless, here’s a few things you can do in Hanoi with kids.

Hanoi With KidsMost adults will no doubt end up at Hanoi’s Old Quarter, which is not ideal for pushing strollers or walking around with younger kids. There’s endless motorcycles that rip past you without much or any consideration for what’s around them, and just waling around there is a bit of a maze where you’ll spend most of your time watching out for your kids rather than being able to see anything.  Having said that, the locals do it so as long as you’re a bit careful, Hanoi with kids isn’t not doable.  Try to get yourself to Luong Van Can, Hanoi’s answer to Toy Street in Sham Shui Po in Hong Kong.  Loads of dirt cheap toys, you can bargain with the prices but it’s anybodies guess how long the toys will last.

Another thing to do in Hanoi with kids is take them for a ride in an electric car. Get yourself to the north end of Hoan Kiem lake and you’ll see plenty of them parked there. It’s a good way for the kids to have a bit of a ride around in something new while you get to see part of the city.

Hanoi with kids

Hanoi has quite a few parks where you can let the little ones run around and burn some energy so you could try Thong Nhat Park It’s not the greatest park in the world but if your kids are getting antsy and need to run riot for a while, it’s probably worth a visit.  It won’t be on any guide of things to do in Hanoi with kids but it’s a large green space which you might appreciate being in after being in the Old Quarter for so long.

Of course, if you’re in Hanoi with kids you can always spend the afternoon at the hotel swimming pool, which is always the best way to let them have some fun.
