Da Nang, Vietnam

You shouldn’t have a problem getting flights to Danang, that is unless you try and book during Chinese New Year, in which case it’s a bit of a nightmare.  There’s over 10 direct flights to Danang from Hong Kong on Cathay Dragon, HK Express, and Jetstar, all throughout the day so under normal circumstances you should be ok getting flights to Danang from Hong Kong, and there’s a boatload of flights from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang so getting there isn’t a problem.

We went during Chinese New Year and ended up having to go to Ho Chi Minh, which wasn’t so bad because we got to stay a few nights there but ordinarily, you should really only want to fly direct there if you can.  There seems to be loads of flights to Danang from most other major cities and judging by the amount of mainland Chinese tourists there was there, looks like there’s loads of flights to Danang from China so you should have plenty of options if you’re based there.

Yeah, Danang is supposedly a city of history and rich culture but there are much better, way better, resort towns/cities in Asia than this. I can’t think of a single reason I’d want to go back, other than golf, and with the crap weather we had both visits, I’d be thinking twice about that.  Actually the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is one reason to go back. You can read my review of that here.

Flights to DaNang

It wasn’t just raining or overcast when we went to Da Nang, it was also quite windy, which made swimming in the sea pretty much impossible, well at least for younger kids, because toddlers and younger kids would be getting bowled over by the size of the waves, not to mention the coldness of the water.  Anyway, enough about the weather, have a Google about when the best time to go is, because like any beach destination, it’s going to be a bit of a stink holiday if it’s raining most of the time.
