Beijing, China

Beijing With Kids

Beijing with kids is a bit difficult, most of the attractions and things to do and see in Beijing are more suited to adults so it means you have to entertain them while attempting to appreciate the history and sights, while trying to dodge a few million other people.  If you’re thinking about going to Beijing with kids, I’d seriously consider not taking them, or better yet, just not going at all.

Beijing With Kids

Me eating shrimp crackers at peking Duck restaurant

I’m sure if you’ve already planned to visit Beijing with kids, there are things to do for them, but I didn’t do any of them.  I tagged along to the summer palace with Mum and Dad, climbed a hill, walked around the lake, but there were a kagillion people there, so I couldn’t really cut loose and romp around like I usually do. It was hot, humid, polluted, crowded, and basically I’d have been better off staying at home watching ToyLabTV.  If your mum and dad have dragged you along then throw tantrums and perhaps they might let you stay in the hotel room.   If they ask you if you want to go, run around the house shouting and screaming and pretend you have suddenly developed a bad case of ADD, they might think twice about going.

Me Scootering in Summer Palace

Seriously though, I actually had an ok time but it requires mum and dad to entertain you a lot, and plus mum bought me a scooter while I was in Beijing so I got to rip around the hotel and Summer Palace on my scooter. I must say that’s one good thing about China, they don’t have many of the ridiculous rules you have in Hong Kong and some places in Japan, perhaps that’s why it’s a bit chaotic, but regardless, you can pretty get away with doing anything in China and nobody will take a second look.

This is one city where we didn’t visit the zoo, not sure why but it has pretty stink reviews so I’d give that a miss.  No doubt after reading this you’re still in need of finding things to do in Beijing with kids, so just have a google and see what you come up with, sorry I wasn’t much help, I’ve been busy downloading farting apps.
