If you’re thinking about Bali with kids the first thing you need to consider is the possibility of a very long wait (1-2 or more hrs) at Bali Airport. (click the link to read about that). If you’re just wanting to find out what to do in Bali with kids, this might not be that much use – Grobbler tells you why below.
I got a bit crook while I was in Bali and was also attacked my damn mosquitoes and got bites all over my face. Still, even though I was only almost 2, I had a pretty good time and got to ride a camel, saw some Monkey’s (which I’m about as fond of as my Dad is about Kenny G – not very) and spent loads of time in the swimming pool that would have fit about 200 me’s in. When you have a pool this big, there’s not much need to go Googling for things to do in Bali with kids.
Since I got sick, we spent most of the time in our Villa and didn’t want to venture to much out in public for fear of meeting a really nice looking other 2 year old and she seeing all my mosquito bites on my face. I’m just going to talk about my trip to Ubud Monkey Forest. First thing to know it’s quite far, actually it took us almost an hour from Hilton Bali (Formerly Grand Nikko Bali Hotel) and you know at that age, any car trip over 20 minutes usually results in me carking it in the back seat of the car, which is exactly what happened. So basically I spent most of the time at Ubud Monkey Forest waking up from my power nap and wasn’t in the best of spirits, and definitely wasn’t that impressed by having monkeys jumping around all over the place shoving their bums in my face.
The beach at our hotel was not bad, just not great for wee kids, it gets deep pretty quickly and a bit choppy, fine for older kids, but not great for toddlers. The beach at Seminyak looked a bit better for kids so maybe check that out if you’re planning on going. Other than that, I was not even quite 2, so basically spent the time weeing in my nappy, taking lots of naps and getting told off for scratching my mosquito bites.
I reckon I’m gonna ask mum and dad to go back there one day and check out some more sights now that I’m older. In the meantime, check out this link for more things to do in Bali with kids.
