However, FroKnowsPhoto AKA Jared Polin, will be right up your alley if you like loud, obnoxious types that want to be the center of attention. FroKnowsPhoto is loud and proud, his massive “I SHOOT RAW” theme is downright annoying and personally I can’t stand the guy, even when he’s posted a video about something I’m interested in, I rarely get further into his videos than his “Fro Knows PHHHHHHoTO” intro and turn off.
If you fancy yourself as the life of the party or envy the person who thinks he’s the life of the party, you’ll probably like FroKnowsPhoto. Having said all this, and even though he’s completely not my cup of tea, I say good on him, he’s amassed over 700,000 subscribers (as of this writing) and his in-your-face style is obviously popular with a lot of people. The few videos I have managed to make through his intro, it appears he has somewhat “faked it until he’s made it”. Again, bloody well good on him. I’m sure he knows some stuff but he’s just not for me.
I watched a video of FroKnowsPhoto trying to explain about film. He had to look carefully at the box to see whether the film was 135 or 120 and that immediately switched me off. That’s like a mechanic having to go around and check to see if it’s a Mercedes or BMW badge on the car. I mean come on, if you have to look at the label you have no right to be making a video giving advice about film. For those of you that don’t shot film, the boxes are different sizes for fucks sake!
Again, to be fair, I’ve never made it through an entire video and most of his stuff is on Digital so it doesn’t really interest me, so I can’t really make statements about the correctness of his information. He must know a thing or too and at the least he sure knows how to market himself which you’ve got to commend him for.
