Before you say anything, I bought the Tony & Chelsea Northrup book! I haven’t read a single page of it but when I first starting getting serious again about photography, I’m not ashamed to admit I bought it! And there’s nothing wrong with that, unless you’re the Angry Photographer, in which case both Tony, Chelsea and probably myself, are Satan. A lot of people don’t like them, they’ve put out some good stuff you can learn from, they’ve also put out some useless stuff, but unlike the Angry Photographer, I just can’t see what’s wrong with this couple making money from sharing what they know about Photography. They’ve got some good images, they’re very 2017, meaning they’re usually processed to hell, sharp and commercial looking, but hey, good on them. They seem nice enough, they’re not dishing anyone, calling anyone nasty names and Tony & Chelsea Northrup are basically the type of couple that you’d be comfortable introducing to your Nana. I bet all Nana’s would absolutely love Tony and Chelsea!
They produce a ton of videos, and to be honest I haven’t watched that many of them because a lot of it is just stuff about which I have no interest ie. Nikon, Canon, generic camera news which mostly doesn’t interest me. They seem the type of couple who stay up late at night laughing about the comments that people make about them and don’t seem to be worried at all by the “haters”. For that, they’re alright in my book. Tony & Chelsea Northrup have over 700,000 subscribers, as of August 2017, probably thanks to Chelsea’s rather ample bosom, and Tony being voted Sexiest Geek Alive Contest, which in turn got him spots on Good Morning America and other shows.
Probably one of the reasons they’re not liked by quite a few people is because they’re relatively new in Photography and started out as more tech gurus, well at least Tony did. I can see where someone like the Angry Photographer is a bit pissed at people like this because they might be (I don’t know that for a fact) less informed about some aspects of Photography then he is, yet (at least) appear to be doing much more successfully on YouTube. Of course, the Angry Photography will tell you he doesn’t give a shit but we all know that’s really true. If you’re a normal human being just starting out in Photography, Tony and Chelsea Northrup might just be your cup of tea so check out their YouTube channel here.
