Stayed 3 nights at the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki in June 2016 and despite this hotel not being that great, had one of the better times. Mainly thanks to the electric bike hire which we particularly enjoyed. You can rent the bikes at the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki on the 1st floor activities center, go down and just get them yourself. They unlock with a key. Best thing to do is get out on the main road – turn right when you get out of the hotel, then at the first main intersection turn right again, about 500m down the road you’ll see an entrance into the “forest” on the right side of the road, then ride through the forest to the beaches about 4-5 km away. Very relaxing! If you turn left out of the hotel, you’ll be riding on cycle paths beside the main road, there’s not that much traffic but it’s much nicer through the golf courses and is pretty much covered by shade all the way.
To room at the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki are a decent size, no balcony but big windows with a view of the car park and on the other side, the ocean and part of the greenery. Bed’s a decent size, comfortable, and the bathroom is quite big with walk in shower and bath. Im their day, they would have been much nicer but as mentioned, it’s getting a bit old so looks a bit shabby but totally fine to stay in unless you must have absolute luxury.
At a few meals at the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki because there’s nothing else around to eat unless you drive (The Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki is a 10 minute drive to Aeon Mall if you want some other food or shopping and about a 25 minute drive to Aoshima Island, which is definitely worth a visit. Hire a car so you can drive around.) The Chinese restaurant won’t be winning any awards and I’d avoid that if possible. The Japanese one we couldn’t get a seat at despite their appearing to be hardly anybody at the hotel, I bet if we went in, it would have been half full and they would have been waiting on reservations about 2 hours away – pretty standard stuff in Japan. Anyway, breakfast was not bad, good selection, everything was edible but not something you’d be talking about.
Despite the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort Miyazaki being a bit of an eye-sore and in need of a renovation, I’d actually have no problems coming back to stay here , it’s nothing special but not many people there (weekday) and a nice location so my idea of a good break.
