The Ria Golf Lodge is basically on top of the Ria Bintan Golf Club clubhouse and is fine if you all want to do is play golf but for anything else you might want to look elsewhere. I stayed here with a friend a few years ago and we were a bit uncomfortable with the size of the room and the closeness of the beds. The rooms at Ria Golf Lodge were tiny, at least the one we stayed in, which must have been called a Par Room, which they classify as cosy, which usually means tiny as shit. And that they were, maybe about 22sqm at most. Anyway, we just stayed at the Ria Golf Lodge for a night and 2 rounds of golf so it was fine for that, one round of golf on arrival in the afternoon, you’re pretty tired from the flight and ferry ride, so you basically eat at the clubhouse then off to sleep.
Wake up the next morning and early morning tee off so you’re not really in the room much, but again, I don’t think I’d want to stay at Ria Golf Lodge for more than a night, or would definitely need to get a bigger room. The Ria Bintan Golf course is another thing completely. That was absolutely superb and definitely a golf course I’d want to play again and again and again. It’s challenging but not so difficult that you lose hundred of balls and the views when you get out to the sea are nice. The Ria Bintan Golf Club is one of the better golf courses I’ve played in Asia and would happily go back and play that again.
I could easily do a 3-4 day golf holiday at Ria Bintan, but maybe stay somewhere a bit nicer like the Banyan Tree Bintan and play a couple of rounds of golf here and a couple of rounds elsewhere, there’s plenty of great golf courses on Bintan so lots to choose from.
