Lost Escape Room Hong Kong

Nice way to waste an hour if you're in Causeway Bay or Mongkok and something a bit different ideal for a rainy day.

Finally decided to visit Lost Escape Room Hong Kong few weeks back. Lost Hong Kong is one of a few escape rooms in Hong Kong that have opened up in the last few years and they seem to be quite popular all over the world with generally positive reviews. For Lost Escape Room Hong Kong, you can book online, at least book the session online, then go ahead and pay when you get there.

Note when booking, on Lost Escape Room Hong Kong website, they say their Causeway Bay Branch only opens at 1p.m, but when you got book the slot, you can book from 11a.m. Not sure if this was because a school holiday or they haven’t updated their opening hours. Regardless, check their website or Facebook page to contact them or see the latest opening hours.

We went to their Causeway Bay location, which is on Pak Sha Road, about a few minutes walk from either Times Square or Sogo. They have another branch in Hong Kong. Anyway, easy to find and get to, when you see the entrance walk up, looks like nothing is there or that the shop has closed, but it’s open. The staff were friendly and we showed up a bit early but since there were no people there, they let us start early, so well done for showing common sense, most places in Hong Kong would be so anal and strict about that.

We tried the Tangata Manu room, (there’s about 4 or 5 other rooms to choose from though, all with varying difficulty) which was supposed to be medium difficulty. The staff gave some quick instructions and then you get shut in. I should mentioned I took Grobbler along who’s almost 6. The first challenge is to open a code by deciphering something on a piece of paper but we (I!) for the life of me couldn’t figure it out and after 5 minutes had to push the intercon for a tip. I won’t tell you how to solve all the clues as it’ll spoil things.

Next up was a puzzle on the wall that we had to figure out, Grobbler actually solved that but we spent about 15 minutes not realising this opened a door, had to call staff again, who came in and said the door was already opened! Bugger! You then go into another room where there’s a few more clues which, one you figure out exactly where they are, is not that difficult. Anyway, it’s all over in 45 minutes, they let us stay in the room a few more minutes, in fact, we left ourselves, so again, well done to the staff for not charging in as soon as our 45 minutes was up and insisting we leave when there was nobody booked after us.

The room looked a little bit worse for wear, some things were broken or about to be broken, but nothing affected the actual playing of the game. If you haven’t been to an escape room, Lost Escape Room Hong Kong is worth a go. Not something I’d go back to regularly but a bit of fun and problem solving for 45 minutes. Grobbler quite liked it, the challenges/puzzles/clues he could figure out with some help but definitely need an adult with ones that age or younger.
