Best thing to do when visiting Angkor Wat is to take an Angkor Wat Photography Tour. It’ll save you time and effort and is to me, the best way to see Angkor Wat. Before going, I did a lot of research on all the Angkor Wat Photography Tour companies and decided on Chris Cusick from Chris Cusick Photography. Before I get into the nitty gritty of the Angkor Wat Photography Tour, let me explain something about all photography tour companies.
If you Google something like “Angkor Wat Photography Tour” or any other city in place of “Angkor”, you will usually get a few pages of results, the first company on Google will often have other photographers who work for them, that all have their own tours and services, and from my experience, will be cheaper than the top ranked company on Google. So here’s a tip, click on the top ranked (#1) search result, have a decent look and see who the photographers are, then Google them plus the words “name of city…photography tour”. More often that not you will come across them and they will offer considerably cheaper services. Same thing applies to tours on TripAdvisor. Anyway, back to the Angkor Wat Photography Tour review.
If you want to see Angkor Wat without the crowds, get some valuable photography tips and advice and just have an all around relaxing, stress-free day, I’d highly recommend Chris and his Angkor Wat Photography Tour. He will create a customised itinerary for you based on your needs. Whether you want/need a lot of photography advice/tips, or just want to stay away from the crowds and get taken to the very best of Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples, Chris will organise it and make sure you get the very most out of your time.
Even if you aren’t a photographer, this is a good way to see Angkor Wat as Chris seems to know the temples inside out, the best times to visit each one, and is a pleasure to be around, which is important if you’re going to spend a day with someone! I’m not one for guided tours, and have never been on a guided tour before anywhere in the world but I couldn’t imagine seeing Angkor Wat and the other temples, without having the help of someone and definitely recommend Chris to anybody planning to visit this amazing place.
Honestly it was a bit of struggle for me doing a full day tour. Getting up at 4:30a.m wasn’t pleasant, especially if you panic about waking up like me and spend most of the night awake. I was done by about 2p.m and had to go back to the hotel to rest. Even I wasn’t completely wiped out, I don’t think I could have photographed any of the temples for much longer, so my advice on doing an Angkor Wat Photography Tour would be to do half a day, get some advice out of them on where to in the afternoon by yourself, and head off and explore alone.
