Most of Washington DC’s most famous attractions and monuments are free. These include pretty much everything at the Smithsonian Institute, the National Gallery of Art and the monuments situated at the National Mall. Funnily enough, most of the things that do require tickets aren’t really that great. Do you really want to pay to see yet another Madame Tussauds wax figure?
In a city like this, with so many iconic and famous landmarks, monuments and sights, it’s tempting to try and get away from them and do something different. Don’t though. Yep, there’s a bunch of other things in Washington DC to do, off the beaten track bars and restaurants, arty little venues and music joints, but if it’s your first time, stick to what’s known because they’re all worth seeing.
