There’s ferries from Victoria Canada to Vancouver and return throughout the day that take around one and half hours. You can drive your car on. More info on that here. If you’re staying in Vancouver for longer than a week, and want to visit somewhere nice, Victoria is probably worth going over to. It’s a nice relaxing day trip or better to do an overnight and visit Butchart Gardens.
I remember the summers in Victoria Canada were beautiful. People complain about the rain in the winters in Vancouver but Victoria wasn’t too bad, just a bit cold. During Christmas, the residents take great pride in really going for broke on their christmas decorations. And I don’t mean just Christmas trees. They decorate their whole house and make it a big thing, so much so that they have competitions and people drive around at night just to look at the christmas lights and decorations some residents have put up. I’m not one for this type of thing but it’s really quite impressive and worth checking out if you happen to be there during Christmas.
Victoria Canada is home to quite possible the worst opening hole in golf, the 1st hole at Olympic View. If you like opening your round with a double or triple bogey or worse, head out here. I once had to par the last to shot 99 playing of a handicap of about 2. Freezing cold, no sun and not a lot of fun. Cordova Bay is lovely (look out for my name on the is of Club Champions!), so too is Victoria Golf Club. There’s a lot of nice local courses further up the Island. Arbutus Ridge has probably the 2nd worst opening hole I’ve ever played, out of bounds both sides, you can’t hit driver, 3 wood, hybrid and long iron isn’t going to give you much more hope!
