If you’re planning on visiting Victoria with kids you should know that’s all about the outdoors. There’s not hundreds or even tens of things to do in Victoria with kids, but it’s safe, quiet and relaxed city where you can always find some space and fresh air for the kids to have a run around.
WildPlay – Elevated obstacle course mainly for older kids. This place has log ladders, ziplines, cargo nets, rope swings, tightropes, swinging logs, wobbly bridges and features 11 Ziplines in total, 60 aerial games and a 40 foot jump. These aerial course adventures are becoming popular around the world and your kids can easily spend a day here.
IMAX Victoria in the Royal VBC Museum has some awesome shows including Conquest of the Skies 3D, The Search for Life in Space 3D, Amazon Adventure 3D and Rocky Mountain Express. If you’ve never been to an IMAX before it’s quite an experience. Younger kids (below 3-4) might get a bit freaked out with the 3D but there’s 2D shows also available. I’m not really one for movies when traveling but seeing an IMAX is quite cool and the kids usually love it.
Miniature World – For adults these miniature worlds are always a bit tacky and ho-hum but for kids who have never seen them, they can be alright. There’s over 80 little attractions that include the World’s Smallest Operational Sawmill, one of the longest model railways, Circus World, Space 2201, Frontier Land, Fantasy Land, King Arthur’s Camelot, The Fields of Glory and more. Every scene is created in painstaking detail. Not really my cup of tea but a good way to spend an hour.
Whale Watching – Best time to do this is between May and October where there’s a 95-98% chance of seeing whales. If you don’t, the company will give you the chance to keep coming back until you do. These guys have a reputation for extending the tour and/or traveling further if there are whales spotted at the end of the tour or further away. Top class boats feature indoor heated viewing areas as well as outside decks. If you’ve never been whale watching before definitely give this a try, you can also spot killer whales, seals and other marine life. One of the better things to do in Victoria with kids for sure.
