things to do in victoria

Not a lot of real touristy things to do in Victoria BC, which is a good thing and keeps the hoards of tourists away making it one of the more relaxing and peaceful cities to visit.

The Butchart Gardens are Victoria’s main attraction and pretty much at the top of every single things to do in Victoria list, and rightly so.  I’m probably the least romantic human being in Asia but I have to say I used to go to the Butchart Gardens with my then girlfriend and remember feeling the romance. Thank god the Internet was still on dial up otherwise I might have even been tempted to post gay photos titled “Love Amongst The Roses” on Facebook had there been one at the time.  Anyway, they’re beautiful. Immaculately kept and if you want some gay photos with your loved one, this is the place to go. Definitely one of the best things to do in Victoria and not many will dispute that.

British Columbia Parliament Buildings – You can take a guided or self guided tour inside here, but neither of them are particularly interesting unless you’re really into that sort of thing.  They’re essentially nice to look at from the outside and have a walk around and picnic or coffee on the lawns outside. Walking around the harbour with the Parliament Buildings as the back drop is rather. If you’re staying in one of the better hotels you’re most likely going to be seeing them on a daily basis but they don’t get boring to look at.

Craigdarroch Castle – Lovely old Victorian era mansion that’s been beautifully restored. You can probably spend only an hour here so it’s not really a half day thing, but if you’re looking for things to do in Victoria, this is probably worth a visit.

More to come including Fisherman’s Wharf, Golf, IMAX, Whale Watching and more!
