I still have mixed feelings on Prague, much like the places to visit in Prague, some good and some bad. The locals, for the most part, didn’t appear to be all that friendly. When you visit restaurants it’s not as if they’re happy to see you or take your order. Nothing that bad, but noticeable. Although I can’t say we took any public transportation, the trams look a good way to get around and see some of the more out of the way places to visit in Prague, and are apparently dirt cheap. Taxis are readily available and the drivers seem to be friendlier than the restaurant staff. We only took a few taxi’s but they all understood and will probably understand all the most popular places to visit in Prague.
A lot of places don’t seem to open until mid morning in Prague, so if you’re an early riser, don’t venture expecting you can get yourself a nice breakfast or coffee at 7a.m in the morning, like we did. Maybe that was just in the castle district where we stayed. The more touristy part in Old Town might be different.
There’s a lot of tourists here, not to the point of being overwhelming, but more than I’m comfortable with. To avoid them, take a walk around the castle district away from all the tourist attractions mentioned in the guidebooks. It’s a much nicer way to see the city. You’ll see how the locals live, it’s safe and a good chance to get away from the tourist attractions and get some exercise.
Forget about getting a ride in those vintage cars, you’ll come away with a mega sore back and as mentioned above, walking around the city is a much nicer way to see it. You won’t see any more places to visit in Prague by being driven around in those guys as most of them all go where the touristy things are and don’t get too far out of the city.
