things to do in Cesky Krumlov

You don’t really need to look for things to do in Cesky Krumlov because just walking around the town you’re going to find lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants, interesting little places, buildings and things to see and keep you busy.

Cesky Krumlov has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list for over a quarter of a decade. It’s like going back in time if you can ignore all the tourists either taking selfies or doing something on their phones.   It’s a tiny little town which you could probably walk the distance of in about 15-20 minutes.

I guess one of the best things to do in Cesky Krumlov is go and visit Cesky Krumlov Castle, which is actually a museum and is made up of many smaller castles, buildings and palaces, as well as a park.  You can easily spend a few hours here although the kids aren’t going to be that excited by much inside.  Here’s a few other things to do in Cesky Krumlov:

  • Egon Schiele Art Centrum – an art gallery in a brewery built on the 116th century
  • Muzeum vltavínů – a museum for for interactive exhibits on moldavite, if that doesn’t get you excited I don’t blame you
  • Muzeum Voskových Figurín – museum with South Bohemia theme
  • The Church of St. Vitus – sometimes holds classical concerts, which apparently are pretty good
  • Hike to Climbing Mount Kleť – recommended by several locals, you can take a chairlift up if you’re too lazy to hike

But really, the best things to do in Cesky Krumlov, or rather thing to do, is just have a lazy, leisurely stroll around the town and soak up the history and enjoy the streets.  I hear it’s nice in winter with much less people, but when we went in summer it was beautiful.  If you have a bit of time, check out some options for rafting down the Vltava River, which runs through the town. We saw hundreds of locals doing it and it looked wicked.
