Okay I don’t know what it was about Langkawi, it’s definitely not a bad place to go but there’s not a single reason I can think of to go there from Hong Kong, even if there was direct flights (which there’s not), there are far better beaches, better beach resorts for much less money, and with much better food.  I guess if you live in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore or anywhere where there’s direct flights, it might be an ok weekend getaway, but it just doesn’t have enough going for it to even consider if you’re in Hong Kong and definitely not worth a long haul flight if you’re further away.
