Third time we’ve taken the Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch, got a reasonably good deal for around HKD$24,000 during school holidays. Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch is basically just 3 seats with leg rests that go up to the horizontal position. I’ve taken NZ80, which is the Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch flight, on quite a few occasions and have never seen more than 1 or 2 people waiting at the check in counters eve during holidays and despite the fact there’s only a few counters. Not sure how they do it but it’s nice not to wait half an hour to check in.
We got on Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch after most people had boarded and again, for some reason, there’s not a huge boarding line and it all goes quickly. You don’t get through boarding and find a massive line that’s backed up, people seem to seat themselves quickly.
Unfortunately I happened to sit in a seat that had been peed on by someone and only noticed about half an hour in. The seat was damp and when I first sat down I noticed this smell. At first I thought it was me because Grobbler and I had been doing the usual racing/running before the flight, but then the smell of pee started to get worse.
Anyway, sat in it for well over an hour., by which time by pants were a bit damp and stunk of wee too. When the crew came around I just told them about it and the lady was super apologetic and changed the seat base for me. No big deal, and handled very well by the crew. I won’t go into exactly what they did, but they did more than enough and handled it extremely well, It wasn’t there fault, the cleaning crew obviously missed it, which is understandable because the seat wasn’t soaking wet, but as well as replacing the seat they said they’d log it and again, all of them were very apologetic and accommodating.
All of the staff at Air New Zealand, from the check in counter, to the gate staff, to the cabin crew, were excellent, friendly, professional and probably the best I’ve encountered. You don’t get served dinner for a few hours into the flight, so if you have kids, make sure you bring a few snacks as they’ll be hungry.
Other than the wee seat, the seats were newish and as comfortable as an economy class seat gets. The TV screens were excellent quality, possibly the highest resolution I’ve seen in either economy, premium economy, or business class. There was a family with 2 adults, 1 toddler and 1 small child in front of us. It’s too small for that all of them to have a nice sleep, but if you have 1 adult and a child, or 2 just-below average build adults, you should be alright. The give you a big duvet/undercover thing and some pillows.
Last time I didn’t get much sleep, Grobbler did, as he’s much smaller, but I decided to book Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch again because you don’t have the chance to have some fafty, smelly or weirdo sitting next to you. Food is your average, two options available, the classic chicken on rice and beef and potatoes. Both Grobbler and I had the beef and potatoes which was was like braised beef casserole. Not the best, but far from the worst and edible. Grobbler mowed down all of his meal.
Breakfast was either continental or eggs, hash brown and sausage, we had one of each, Fruit was fresh and your typical airline economy class yoghurt. Horrible muffin that was rick hard but the rest of it was alright and perfectly acceptable. Grobblers eggs were ok, he also mowed those down pretty quickly. Also on the plate was some kind quinoa salad thing (possibly!?), a couple of crackers, brown bread role and bit of chocolate cake, which was pretty rank. Overall the dinner was alright, probably better than average, not quite as good as on some Cathay flights but nothing to complain about.
The toilets on Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch, at least one of the them, was the largest I’ve ever seen, I mean you can easily fit two people in here and it was bigger than most business class toilets I’ve been on. Don’t think they were all like that, but the layout of the toilets is also good, they fit in about 5-6 toilets in one place so you rarely have to wait.
Without doubt though, the best thing about Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch was the service. The crew were amazing, and much better and friendlier than ant crew on Cathay Pacific in either economy or business. I’ll definitely be flying Air New Zealand again and would probably fly Hong Kong To Auckland Air New Zealand Economy Class Skycouch again. They’ve got some really good deals going throughout the year and I’d be happy to pay a premium for the service received.
Only negative thing about this flight was the fact that we had two of the most inept parents in the world in front of us who had two kids who basically cried and screamed the whole way. They did nothing to try and calm them down, just stuck their headphones on watched movies while their two young toddlers yelled and screamed. Never before have I encountered such selfishness and lack in parenting skills.
All you need to do is let them watch TV, abandon the 30 minutes of iPad or whatever your rule is and keep them quiet, it won’t kill them to watch a few movies. Think they had come in fro the UK so time difference might have been a problem, but for gods sake, plan ahead, wake them earlier the day before so they’re a bit tired. This of course wasn’t Air New Zealand’s fault and I must say, if this had been an Asian couple, the whole plane would have been up in arms. Two of the most selfish, completely clueless parents I’ve seen which meant no sleep at all. Basically 8 hrs of non-stop crying and screaming.
