Sydney, Australia

We only spent a few days in Sydney before and after New Zealand and most of the time in rained apart from the day we arrived

Sydney failed to impress me. I guess part of it was the fact that it rained most of the time we were there, but the other part was I though the people were a bit arrogant and thought they were a bit shit hot. Kind of reminded me of Hong Kong, with a lot of tossers cruising the streets in their sun glasses thinking they were absolutely brilliant.  I think as I’ve mentioned before, the weather plays a big part on what you think of the destination as if rains it sometimes limits the activities you can do.  Considering that, it had been about 20 years since my last visit so didn’t remember much. But honestly we didn’t think much of it, the people aren’t as nice in Melbourne and it’s got a much more rushed vibe.  Sure, the Sydney Opera House is nice and there’s plenty of things to do, had an okay time at the Botanic Gardens and to be fair, 2 days isn’t a long time to either do much or form a fair opinion of a city.

Sydney

I’ve had the chance to go back to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and Sydney was actually last on that list and I ended up going to Brisbane.  I can see why people like it, and I can see why people live there – nice weather (usually), beaches, arts, culture, multi-cultured, hundreds of good restaurants, parks and fresh air, but for some reason it just didn’t click with me.  If you have a choice between going to Sydney and Melbourne, I’d choose Melbourne anytime and easily.  If you’ve already booked a trip to Sydney and are trying to find some things to do or places to visit, then read on for some tips and some of the places I thought were ok.
