Checked in at the Chengdu Airport Hotel about midnight for a bit of a sleep before a 6a.m flight the next day. As with many other reviews, the Chengdu Airport Hotel didn’t appear they had my reservation despite showing them my confirmation. Nevertheless it didn’t take them long to either find it or just check me in regardless. Thank God for that because the reception was teaming with mosquitoes. Rooms are big and clean at the Chengdu Airport Hotel but stink of smoke (as do many rooms in China), I had a room facing the airport and didn’t find it that noisy. I’ve read a few other people had problems with the hotness of the room – no idea what they’re talking about, the room was freezing cold when I got in.
The main problem at the Chengdu Airport Hotel was the mosquitoes, which kept me up basically all night, which, granted, was only four hours before I had to check out. Basically I had to turn up the air con, bury myself in the blankets with a small hole to breath, otherwise I would have been eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Shower is fine, everything else about the room was fine, but I suspect they open the windows to get the smoke smell out and when that happens the mosquitoes will come in. Real problem. I’d have been better of sleeping in the airport.
On the plus side for Chengdu Airport Hotel, as mentioned, the rooms and are big enough and clean and it’s a 5 minute walk from the terminal. Don’t worry too much about crossing the road, it’s not that dangerous like other people mention.
I don’t think I’d stay here again because of the mosquitoes. Otherwise it would have been fine.
