Best Photography YouTube Channels

I'm going to divide this into two sections - Film Photography and general photography.

Here’s what I think are the current best photography YouTube Channels you should currently be watching.  Of course, my interest is mainly in film and I shoot Fujifilm for digital, so don’t send me threatening emails about how I have got it all wrong – these are what I think are the best photography YouTube Channels.

Best Film Photography YouTube Channels

  1. BigHeadTaco – If you only watch or subscribe to one film or digital photography channel on YouTube, this should be it, especially if you’re a Leica or Fujifilm user or into film photography.
  2. Ted Viera – Doesn’t post very regularly but when he puts something out it’s usually interesting and worth watching.  If you like your Black and White, Ted Viera is the man for you.  Shoots Leica and Fuji.
  3. Waste of Film – Tim Heubeck from Germany won’t be getting the nickname “Fun Tim” anytime soon but he’s produced some interesting videos about shooting film and well worth watching

Those are basically the only film photography YouTube Channels I watch.  Here are some others that I’m not particularly fond of but seem to be quite popular:

  1. NegativeFeedback– Polished productions from some hipster youngsters in the UK. Used to watch them but there images are a bit boring
  2. EduardoPavezGoye – Ton of videos on different film cameras.  For some reason just have no interest in watching even one of his videos
  3. Old Cameras – Exactly what it says, a Channel about old film cameras
  4. Matt Day – I find him annoying but he has some good videos on film photography so check him out, seems normal enough
  5. Erik Wahlstrom – Some interesting stuff on different types of film.

And here’s my list of the best Photography YouTube Channels (including above, film and digital)

  1. BigHeadTaco
  2. Ted Viera
  3. Waste of Film
  4. Magic of Light – Excellent for Leica fans. Thorsten von Overgaard shares techniques, rules and secrets necessary to learn photography and become a master of light as well as his unique insight into the Leica history and Leica cameras.
  5. School of Visual Arts – A lot of rubbish but if you sort through it all you can find some really could talks about photography and art
  6. Fuji Guys Channel – All about Fuji X Series and everything Fujifilm
  7. Bert Stephani – Fuji shooter, doesn’t post much but look back a few years for some good videos on Fuji X Series
  8. Leica Review – Can be a bit condescending and high all mighty, but some good reviews on Leica glass if you’re into that
  9. Kai W – Leftovers from the now dead DigitalRev.  Tries a bit too hard to be edgy and entertaining but still worth a giggle every now and again
  10. Matt Granger – If you like watching Asian girls in lingerie without the need to close your browser when someone looks over your shoulder, this is the channel for you
  11. B and H – Go to the Event Space for some long and sometimes interesting talks.
  12. Theoria Apophasis – Sometimes Hilarious, sometimes downright boring, you’ve got to check him out.  This guys has more lenses than God (and he’ll tell you that 32 times in each video)
  13. Adorama – Think I’ve only watched one video but that was pretty good.  If you want to learn about photography these guys seem to put out some nice stuff
  14. Rediscover Film – exactly what it says.
  15. Random Camera Junk – Takes the piss out of people like Eric Kim, Dan Bullman and the like. Mildly entertaining

Best Photographers on Youtube

These are always changing, some channels stop producing content, some appear and some just die.  I don’t watch anywhere near the amount of photography videos I used to, especially gear reviews, which are somewhat subjective and dependent on the way you like to shoot and what you shoot.  Gear reviewers seem to be the most popular channels but I try and stay away from them as much as possible.

YouTube Photography

The best photography YouTube Channels to me are the ones by “normal” folks who don’t rant and rave about things and are more focused on film photography in general as opposed to gear reviews.  If you think I’ve missed some good channels, let me know bro.
