Firstly, the location of Alchymist Prague Castle Suites is excellent, in a very quiet part of town but no more than 5 minutes walk to restaurants and close to Prague Castle (actually just below it). If you head over to the old town square you’ll appreciate more, what a great location this is as it’s away from the tourists yet close enough to all the places you’ll want to go in Prague.
It’s nice to have a different style of luxury, different than the usual Oriental Mandarin’s, Peninsula’s, Sheraton’s and the like. The rooms at Alchymist Prague Castle Suites are outstanding, with it’s very own, extremely tiny lift direct to your room. They’re so small, you can’t fit your suitcases in and if you’re a 300 pound overweight wilderbeast, you might not fit it, which is a good thing because you take the stairs and lose some weight. You’ve got a nice balcony and everything is done with impeccable taste and style. One thing about the Balcony at Alchymist Prague Castle Suites, we decided to have some dinner out here one night (Thai takeaway), very pleased with ourselves we had come up with such a brilliant idea, until the bees started to arrive, and had us scurrying inside quicker than…something really quick….(sorry, couldn’t think of any witty analogies).
The only negative for us, and this won’t be a problem for many people, is that they don’t serve breakfast until 8a.m, and when you have a 5 year old who wakes up at 6a.m, that’s a bit of a pain. Then again, pretty much every place in Prague doesn’t seem to open up that early and if you don’t have early-rising kids and plan on having a sleep in, then no worries. It wasn’t a huge issue, but you would think they could have organised something for us a bit earlier.
Again, not a deal breaker, and because everything else, including the staff and service, was superb, it didn’t matter that much, but something to be aware of if you have kids. The Alchymist Prague Castle Suites is a special hotel and if you want something a bit different in a great part of the city, then I strongly recommend it.
